Whoo hoo. What an imagination! Mark Pendergrass is in another world and takes you right along with him. Some fine writing here, especially the opening scenes! I wanted more story about this character, his heroic search for the healing vial, and his struggle with dark powers: "...face to face with all that frightened children and kept grown men awake at night." His love for his mother and his community call him to risk everything, even his life, to save them. How about a sequel? A novella? Guess we'll have to wait and see.Product details

The Satchel eBook Mark D Pendergrass Reviews
The writer clearly has good writing skills, but I found the general plot of the story to be a little too predictable and ultimately boring. I am also very confused regarding multiple chapters in the book.
In the end I thought this was a fairly good read, but not as good as other reviewers commented. I did like the author though - I am curious if with a better storyline this author can truly shine.
Mark Pendergrass is a contemporary author, but he is a man from another time. He sees things through an other-worldly lens...with a keen ear for archaic syntax and the ability to get inside the skin of characters from other times and places. This saga has a hallucinatory twist that will keep you guessing right 'til the end.
The author draws us into an eerie but beautiful world where we cannot even guess what will happen next. This story was reminiscent of "The Village." The cover itself is worth the price of the book! I want to read more from this author.
The only thing wrong with The Satchel was it was too short. It was an intriguing story and wish there was more to read. Mark D. Pendergrass needs to write a book next.
A great Short Story that pulls you in and does not release you until the end. The message is great, the setting is intriguing and the author is brilliant!
I chose a five star rating because this story had all the elements I enjoy in a short story such as suspense, good vs evil, a plot twist and ultimately, the triumph of good over evil.
I never actually finished reading it. I read the first few pages and it freaked me out. Didn't start again.
