Winner of the 2017 Dog Writers Association of America AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy and Canine Good Citizen Award for the best writing about the AKC Canine Good Citizen Program. (Plus, it's funny!)
Sit. Stay. Be Polite with Strangers. What could be easier?
That’s what Doodle thinks when Molly signs him up to take the Canine Good Citizen Test at the annual DogDays Fair. Compared to the certifications he has to pass for his job as a bed-bug sniffer dog for the “boss,” Molly’s father, this should be simple.
But the test turns out to be no walk (or sit) in the park. Did he miss the memo about the explosions? And the stolen pets?
While Molly and her friends investigate, another dog disappears, with repercussions that threaten the bonds of an entire family.
Throw in a bullying neighbor and a chase across a squirrel-infested park near the White House, and Doodle begins to wonder if he and Molly have bitten off more than they can chew.
Funny and at times poignant, Ruff-Housed gives us an innocent and warm-hearted view into the mind of a no-nonsense, tell-it-like-it-is dog.
Praise for the Doodlebugged Mysteries. . . .

Amazon says Ruff-Housed (Doodlebugged Mysteries Book 5) is for reading level age 8 and up, but as a dog-loving adult, it held my interest until the very end. It's fast paced with a dog napping, a lost toddler, a little romance and touches on the political issue of illegal immigrants all told from the point of view of Doodle, a bed bug sniffing Labradoodle. I finished the book with a smile on my face!Product details

RuffHoused Doodlebugged Mysteries Book 5 edition by Susan J Kroupa Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews
Love Doodle! My kind of dog. Although a preteen could enjoy these books, this adult is hooked. I am waiting anxiously for more of Doodle. He makes me laugh and the stories are good.
The latest installment is a nice addition to the series but not quite up to par with the other books. The kids have an absurd amount of adult reasoning and freedom, far above their years at points.
A delightful read with snippets of humor as Doodle, the Labradoodle, throws out phrases that are confusing for him. He takes-in words literally, and keeps the reader on their toes. As the story grows, so does the supsense. If you're a dog-lover, enjoy the fun adventure.
The author has done a great job of portraying how a dog's mind works. Her books have made me take a second look at how my dog reacts to things. All of the books are entertaining and this one is no exception. There are serious moments as well that add a little tension.
This latest book continues this series with a lively, thrilling and heartwarming story -- a very pleasant read. The characters are realistic, likeable, and easy to relate to. Except for the bad guys of course... I am now looking forward to each new book so I can enjoy the continuing adventures of Molly and Doodle.
Well, I read all the Doodlebug books (I'm a senior citizen by the way) and they were mildly entertaining but not that great. Doodle himself is sweet and fun and his young girl was nice but the father.....ugh! What a creep. He's mean to Doodle, forgets to feed him, he's selfish, rarely praises him) and kinda shallow and boring.
I guess I was looking for something to read in between the Chet and Bernie books (which are OUTSTANDING) but these don't quite make it. The plots are repetitive and predictable. But hey maybe I'm being too tough, I guess they are written for a young audience (although I don't see why that should make a difference).
I just finished reading all 5 Doodlebugged books. I enjoyed each one very much. Ms. Kroupa is a fine author and her work is interesting and varied. The writing is excellent quality with very few errors, all minor editing errors. I love dogs and am owned by 3 long hair mini Dachshunds and a Chihuahua Pomeranian mix and I serve as a foster mom for a wonderful rescue.
